The annual Barossa Gourmet Weekend this year is set to include a comedic twist, with Seppeltsfield announcing a one-show-only performance of the comedy star-studded production, Grapes of Mirth.
Luke McGregor (Utopia, Rosehaven), Tommy Little (The Project, Hit 107) and Tom Ballard (Tonightly, Triple J), will be joined by Fiona O’Loughlin, Akmal Saleh and Nikki Britton – all coming together to deliver a barrel of laughs at Seppeltsfield, on Saturday September 1st.
Emceed by perennial prankster and Grapes of Mirth founder, Merrick Watts, the live stand-up production comes to the Barossa following two sold-out events in McLaren Vale.
The line-up of comedians include some of the most familiar faces on prime time Australian TV and radio, regular Fringe performers and hottest new talents.
Having hosted several events at Seppeltsfield in recent years, Watts believes the Grapes of Mirth comedy line-up will provide the ultimate “chill-out day” at Seppeltsfield, delivering upon the event’s mission take some of the seriousness out of wine.
“Far too often wine gigs are all about being lectured on sniff, swirl and spit”, said Watts. “Bugger that. Expect six headline comedy sets held at Australia’s most awesome wine destination, a host with the most (what can I say), and some sweet DJ tunes to keep you entertained before, between, and after the comedy has ended – that’s what Grapes of Mirth is about”, he added.
“Getting into the Gourmet Weekend vibe, of course only the best Barossa wine, locally produced beer and cider, and plenty of gourmet grub will be on offer”, Watts added.
